Should I choose Framed Prints, Mounted Canvas or Framed Canvas?
CLICK HERE to watch our short video to understand the difference between the three frame types we offer: Framed Prints (behind glass), Mounted Canvas, and Framed Canvas with a floating frame.
Your decision will depend on style preference, budget and size.
- Mounted Canvas is a cost-effective, authentic option with a modern finish. Available up to 2.75m in size, it is ideal for large statement wall art.
- Framed Canvas (floating frame) adds structure and presence, elevating the look significantly.
- Framed Prints (behind glass) offer the most refined, gallery-style finish and are particularly suited to photographic prints. Due to glass handling limitations, framed prints are available up to 1.5m in size.
How do I choose the right size wall art for my space?
CLICK HERE to watch our measuring guide video to help you select the correct size for your wall. Choosing the right scale is essential — artwork that is too small can make a room feel unbalanced and out of proportion.
As a general rule, artwork should occupy approximately 60–75% of the available wall width.
Do you offer large wall art in South Africa?
Yes. Pixalot offers oversized wall art up to 2.75 metres wide, manufactured locally in Cape Town and delivered nationwide.
What size wall art should I buy above a sofa?
Artwork above a sofa should be approximately two-thirds the width of the sofa. Oversized canvas prints or framed prints often create the strongest visual impact.
Can artwork be too small for a wall?
Yes. One of the most common mistakes when buying wall art online is choosing a piece that is too small. Large wall art or properly scaled gallery wall sets create impact and balance within a room.
Can I buy unframed prints or rolled canvas?
Yes, we offer loose prints and rolled canvas on request, often for customers transporting artwork overseas. The price matches the equivalent Mounted Canvas size.
Simply purchase the Mounted Canvas option and add “loose print” or “rolled canvas” in your cart notes. Your artwork will be dispatched in a protective cardboard tube.
Where are you based? Can I view artwork before buying?
Our workshop and studio are located in Goodwood, Cape Town. As we manufacture to order, we do not operate a physical gallery space. Pixalot is an online wall art store serving customers nationwide.
What is the best type of wall art for a living room?
Large wall art or a well-balanced gallery wall works best in living rooms. The key is scale — artwork should feel proportionate to the sofa or wall beneath it. Abstract Art is often a popular collection for living & dining rooms.

If the package is not checked when received, and the POD is signed, replacements will not be processed at a later date.
Care
How long do canvas prints last?
Our canvas prints are produced using premium imported canvas and UV-resistant printing technology. When properly cared for and kept out of direct sunlight, they will maintain colour and clarity for many years.
Do canvas prints fade?
Canvas or framed print wall art only fades if placed in direct sunlight. Solar UV rays are the worst thing for prints so to avoid fading, choose where you hang your prints carefully. When sunlight strikes canvas or paper, solar UV radiation causes a reaction within the colouring agent and breaks up chemical bonds. The ink then changes significantly at a molecular level, breaks down and eventually fades.
How do I clean my wall art?
Your wall art should be regularly dusted with a lint free duster. If a canvas has been marked, use a slightly damp microfiber cloth to gently work the affected area. The UV inks are durable and the mark should come away, unless it is a stain.
For the framed prints, you can use a standard window cleaner on the glass and a damp cloth on the frames.

Refunds & Returns
Can I return my order?
We make-to-order according to your personalised selection of image/mirror, size and frame. Because each of our 4000+ product comes in 50 variations of size and frame, the chance of someone else ordering the same image/mirror, size and frame as you is 200,000/1. For this reason, it is not viable for us to offer returns and refunds for a change-of-mind, as we will likely not receive an identical order, to be able to resell the item, for many months, if ever! So please choose & measure carefully before you place your order.
However, replacements are manufactured and sent immediately for incorrect orders, and in the instance that an order arrives damaged. Photographic proof of the damage needs to be sent immediately on receipt of the order. If the package is not checked when received, replacements cannot be given at a later date.
We print on a high specification Epson printer, and all orders are QC checked for colour and quality comparison with the website image prior to dispatch. However, should the product arrive markedly different from how it is shown on the website, please send photographic proof of your concerns, and a replacement will be immediately manufactured and sent in this case also.
We are immensely proud of our quality, which is unmatched by any other wall art retailer in the country, so rest assured we will do everything we can to ensure all our customers, are delighted with their investment.
