The Baobab Tree
The Baobab Tree by Pierneef Wall Art
Painted in 1934, The Baobab Tree is unquestionably a product of Pierneef at his finest. The majestic baobab tree stands proud, dominating the landscape, with five people at the foot of the tree and the signs of human habitation in the background dwarfed by comparison.
Jacobus Hendrik (Henk) Pierneef (usually referred to as Pierneef) (13 August 1886 – 4 October 1957), was a South African landscape artist, generally considered to be one of the best of the old South African masters. His distinctive style is widely recognised and his work was greatly influenced by the South African landscape.
A great image for framing behind glass, or block mounting on canvas to create a focal point and conversation piece in any classic art lovers' home.
Please note: this is a very high resolution print of the original artwork which means every brush stroke, inconsistency, and even the texture of the canvas it was originally painted on can be seen. It is almost impossible to differentiate it from the original with the naked eye, but if you want a smooth, flawless, flat looking texture, we recommend you select a photograph rather than an art print.
